Swallows at Tighnabruaich

This was the scene from our cabin veranda at the sailing school in Tighnabruaich, looking out across the Kyle of Bute with the island across in the seas. I did not quite achieve the buttercup yellow of the flowers in the foreground, but after many hours, I am pleased with the result!

A flower a month

I have set myself the challenge of printing a seasonal flower each month. I started with snowdrops for January….. Then moving onto Hellebores for February…. Beautiful Blackthorne for March Carpets of wood anenomes seen out on walks in April, May is for Bluebells…. Daisys in June and now a pause…… to be continued in 2025!

This print was a long time over due. The original sketch was from a sailing trip around the Isle of Arron in August 2021. I only managed the time to carve and print in February 2023…. kick-starting a return to the press!

January – long tailed tits in the garden

Seeing a flock of long-tailed tits in the garden during Lockdown 3 inspiring the next efforts. I set the bird on a branch of an early flowering cherry (Prunus incisa ‘Praecox’). 1st pressing in a lovely pale pink… The final result…..
